When I was a young girl, I loved watching my mum do her daily beauty routine. Even back then she used natural ingredients to look after her skin. She slept with aloe vera on her face, exfoliated with sugar and honey and only used natural creams to moisturise. I think that’s when I started to love healthy skin!
My mother was a nurse, but definitely an alternative one! She is passionate about natural health and she has always relied on homemade remedies. One of the traditions we still share together is to make and apply our natural homemade mask.
This Mother’s Day, I’m happy to share our favourite recipe, it’s very easy!
- 2 tablespoons of coffee
- tablespoon of honey / agave nectar
- Mix these two ingredients together until you get a paste.
- Apply a thick layer all over the face, neck and chest, and let rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Rinse off with warm water.
Tip: you can even use the leftover coffee from your coffeemaker!
Coffee is an excellent scrub, full of antioxidants. It reactivates circulation and improves the skin tone to encourage a youthful appearance. Honey has moisturising and healing properties and works as a natural conservative. So if have any leftover from this recipe, you can keep it in the fridge and use on another day.
For a vegan friendly version, substitute the honey with agave nectar or coconut oil.
Your skin will feel tighter, refreshed and glowing!
