“As an Image Consultant and Style Coach, I love to teach women the colours and styles of clothing that enhance their unique beauty while helping them see themselves as beautiful in the process. I believe all women are uniquely beautiful, and we should celebrate this through the way we dress. I help women every day both online and in-person to develop their own personal style and look and feel more confident, and one of the ways I do this is through colour.
Have you ever wondered why certain colours make you glow, while others cause you to appear washed out and lifeless? Here’s why: depending on the colour of your hair, skin and eyes, certain colours will harmonise with your colouring, while others will clash.
Knowing the colours that suit you makes it so much easier when shopping for clothes, accessories, and, yes, even makeup. The right coloured makeup will blend and harmonise with your colouring and appear much more natural – almost as if the makeup is part of you, enhancing the natural beauty that’s already there. Wearing the wrong coloured makeup, on the other hand, will create a jarring effect. It will clash with your features and won’t look quite right: almost as if it is sitting on top of your skin rather than blending seamlessly with it.
Have you ever wondered which makeup colours you should wear? Read on to find out!
If you have… light blonde hair and a light skin tone
Your overall colouring is very light, and we want to mimic this in your makeup. For eyeshadow, try Ere Perez’s Chamomile Eye Palette in Lovely. Its gorgeous light, soft tones will harmonise beautifully with your gentle colouring and enhance your natural beauty. For eyeliner, try the Jojoba Eye Pencil in Clay. This gorgeous soft brown colour will look beautiful on your light colouring. Or for a playful look, try Gold: this fun colour has a metallic finish that will make your eyes sparkle!
If you have… dark blonde to medium brown hair and a light/medium skin tone
For your medium-intensity colouring, softer, more muted colours are best – not too light, not too deep, and not too bright. Ere Perez’s Chamomile Eye Palette in Gorgeous will look beautiful on you! The medium-intensity, earthy shades are perfect for your soft colouring. For eyeliner, try not to go too intense: the Jojoba Eye Pencil in the shade Stone is great, as this slate grey colour won’t overwhelm you. You could also try the shade Bronze – this is your perfect shade of brown, and will draw attention to your beautiful eye colour!
If you have… dark hair and eyes
The depth of your colouring calls for deep, rich shades and jewel tones. Ere Perez’s Chamomile Eye Palette in Beautiful is perfect for you, as its deep, rich colours harmonise beautifully with your colouring. Your best eyeliner shade is basic Black – you are one of the few people with the colouring to pull it off! For a softer, everyday look, Earth is your perfect brown, or for a unique twist, you could try Forest. The stunning deep green will make your eyes shine!
If you have… dark hair, light skin and blue, green or hazel eyes
There is a high amount of contrast in your colouring, so in terms of the colours you wear, the brighter the better! Ere Perez’s Chamomile Eye Palette in Pretty will look stunning on you: pair one of the lighter shades in the palette with a darker one to really enhance your high-contrast beauty. In terms of eye pencils, the Jojoba Eye Pencil in Black is perfect for you, as you have enough contrast to pull it off. Anything softer will take away from your dramatic colouring, so stick with this shade.
If you have… silver, grey or salt-and-pepper hair
Because of your stunning silver hair colour, cool-toned colours will look beautiful on you. The Chamomile Eye Palette in Lovely will look gorgeous on you, as its pretty pinks and lavenders will harmonise beautifully with your cool colouring. For the daytime, pair this palette with Ere Perez’s Jojoba Eye Pencil in Stone – the slate grey will enhance your natural colouring in a soft way. For night time, try the Jojoba Eye Pencil in Black. This will give you a dramatic look!
If you have… red, auburn or warm brown hair
Because of the warmth in your colouring, go for rich autumn shades and harvest colours when choosing makeup. Ere Perez’s Eye Palette in Gorgeous is perfect for you – the warm browns, golds and coppers will enhance the warmth in your colouring and make you shine! For eye pencils, try Bronze for your everyday look. You could also try Forest, which is particularly beautiful on you if you have green eyes, or even Copper: the metallic element will bring attention to your gorgeous eyes and look stunning!
Once you begin wearing your colours, you’ll see a substantial difference in not only how you look and feel, but also in the way others perceive you. No longer will your unique beauty be hidden behind makeup that clashes with your colouring; your makeup will bring out and enhance your unique beauty and you’ll feel amazing.
