Stan is a personal trainer based in Bondi, Australia. A few years ago, he decided to go vegan. He tells us how to be fit and vegan.
Tell us how and why you decide to go vegan?
I’ve just started becoming more conscious, wasn’t feeling right while eating meat, kind of disgusted feeling when your plate is covered in blood. Then, friends of mine send me few videos on animal cruelty and that put final stop to consuming animal products. It’s the best decision I have ever made.
What does being vegan mean to you?
I feel like my soul is clear now and I don’t contribute to animal cruelty. Besides that I feel more alive, happy, healthy as ever. As personal trainer I need energy for training and socializing, consuming clean plant-based food provides that.
Being vegan means you have to help others, educate and work together to create better environment.
Personal Trainer as vegan?
I think it’s very important to focus on your health and fitness especially when you are vegan. Choose food that is rich in nutrients, like amino acids, proteins, eat plenty of vegetables and drink water everyday. Clean eating most of the time helps me to stay focused; perform better in trainings, keep my mind clear and be more productive all around in general.
There is definitely enough nutrition in plant-based diet to do your day-to-day activities, feel good and enjoy life without harming others.
So far it’s been one and half year since going vegan and I already feel positive results, especially gained muscle mass, strength, cardiovascular endurance.
I was criticized a lot in my first year, but now people ask a lot of questions about how I train and what I eat, leading by example.
