She is Health Coach by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, yoga and meditation teacher, lecturer, and digital entrepreneur. Through the platform Mujer Holística, MJ inspires women to live their life with passion, love and to attract abundance.

In this article she shares a comprehensive overview about chakras.

“Our body is surrounded by an energy field that extends all along our anatomy and can even expand several meters around you. This energy field is like an information center that helps us communicate and interact with our environment. We are constantly transmitting and receiving energy that helps us process information about the world in which we live in and thus, understand it better.

This system has certain points where energy joins, also known as chakras, which are like swirls that move energy throughout our body. The seven chakras symbolize the seven levels of the energy system in the human body and the seven lessons of the spiritual path, which help us raise our level of consciousness. Additionally, each chakra represents processes of self fulfillment; receiving energy from the energy field and taking it to certain areas of your body and your life.

If your chakras are functioning optimally, it’s very likely that you feel that every aspect of your life flows and is aligned with the lessons you have to learn in life. However, if some chakra is blocked, you will feel that some aspect of your life is not flowing as it should. If all the chakras are blocked, your life will feel at a standstill or that you are constantly struggling to get ahead without fluency.

Each of the seven chakras are principles of consciousness that we can use to cultivate a greater harmony, happiness and well-being in our life and in the world.

The 7 chakras

Below, I will share a summary of the seven chakras related to the body and their main characteristics. This information come from the compilation of several books and years of studying our body’s energy.

Chakra No.1 Muladhara or root chakra.

This chakra connects us with the Earth and t’s the basis of who we are. It’s related to our sense of identity and belonging in the world. As the basis of our mental and emotional health, its purpose is to protect us, to make sure we have everything we need. If the energy of this chakra is blocked, you may feel it is difficult to maintain yourself, you also may feel low in energy, and maybe have back or hip problems. Also you probably feel you don’t  find your place of belonging in this world.

This chakra is located at the base of the spine, in the coccyx, and connects with the spine, rectum, legs, bones and immune system (which actually keeps us safe and healthy). Its color is red, like the color of Earth.

Chakra No. 2 Svadhisthana or Sacral Chakra

This one is related to the discovery of who we are as individuals, separated from the tribe. It helps us open up to new experiences and find pleasure in life. Its lessons are related to sexuality, individuality, work, creative expression, and also, our relationship with money and physical desire.

This chakra is located in the sacrum, just below the navel and it’s connected with the reproductive system, the kidneys, the intestines and the hip. Its color is orange, like that of a sunset.

Chakra No. 3 Manipura or solar plexus

This chakra is related to our personal power, the trust we got in ourselves and the control of our life. It is the center of our personal power and the center of our personality. Its energy is related to take control and create the life we want to live.

This chakra is located two fingers above the navel, in the solar plexus, and it’s connected to the stomach, small intestine, gallbladder, liver and the center of the spine. Its color is yellow, like the sun.

Chakra No. 4 Anahata or heart chakra

This chakra is related to our ability to love, to feel compassion and to forgive others. It is the center of our emotional energy, body and spirit. This chakra is located in the center of our chest and it’s connected with the heart, the circulatory system, the lungs, arms, shoulders and hands. Its color is green, like the forest and the leaves.

Chakra No. 5 Vishudda or throat chakra

This chakra is related to our ability to communicate, to express feelings and telling the truth. Its lessons are related to self expression and our will power. This chakra is located in the throat and connects with the thyroid, the neck vertebrae, the jaw and the teeth. Its color is light blue or aqua blue.

Chakra No.6 Ajna or third eye chakra

This chakra is related to intuition, imagination, wisdom and knowledge. It is the center where the forces of conscious and unconscious connect with the intuition and our inner wisdom. This chakra is located in the center of the forehead, between our eyes and connects with the brain, the neurological system, the pineal and pituitary gland, the eyes, the ears and the nose. Its color is indigo, like the sky on a clear and clear night.

Chakra No. 7 Sahasrara or crown chakra

It’s the highest chakra and represents our ability to be spiritually connected. Its energy is that of devotion and dedication; our capacity to allow spirituality to be part of our life. This chakra contains the vital energy of the deity and invites us to maintain a relationship with him. It is located in the crown of the head or upper part of the head and connects the body with the central nervous and muscular systems and the skin. Its color is light purple or white light, color associated with divinity.

The study of the relationship between the chakras and the state of our body and the stage of our life is really fascinating. When we know and work with energy, we can understand better how everything is connected in this world and how we see it is a projection of our internal reality. Here we also recognize that the power to create is in our hands… Maybe we have given up this power because of our fear but we can retake it at any moment and create the life we want to live.

With love,”
