Buffy Ellen is the founder of http://www.begoodorganics.com, a plant-based whole food blog. After being diagnosed with Graves’ disease a number of years ago, an autoimmune disease, Buffy subsequently embarked on a path to health and wellness. Here she shares her love about delicious, plant-based food with her Blueberry and Beetroot Cheesecake recipe. “Amongst the many plant-based cakes I’ve made, this is one of my favourites so I hope you love it too. With four layers of heavenly deliciousness, it’s super light and luscious – no need to save it for special occasions! We’ve been loving having this alongside midweek dinners for an extra-special dessert. As an added bonus, there’s a sneaky vege in the top layer and a nut-free base, meaning this cake is better for you and your wallet. Advertisements
Enjoy our collaboration with makeup artist Liv Lundelius. Liv only uses natural makeup, and the results are stunning! “Working on Editorials is always so much fun, especially if you have a great team! This shoot was for Issue 29 of White Magazine. As usual, I only used natural/ organic/ cruelty-free makeup on set. While I always use a huge variety of different products & brands in my kit, the key beauty products I used here were by Ere Perez.
We go about our lives mostly in a rush with a long list of things to do and people to see. How often do we really stop and think about the source of everything that sustains us? I’m talking about mother earth. This holy planet. A.k.a ‘Our Home’. They say in life everything is a flow, or at least, it should be. In the seeking of right relationships, we want reciprocation, good ol’ give and take. But, how often do we take even a moment to think about giving back to the earth? It seems that all we do is use the earth – for resources, shelter, food, animals, water – but what do we give back? How do we make sure that the earth is not exploited in this relationship? How do we look after the earth? The answer is that we don’t. Our society is entirely focused on what we can get from the earth, often in extreme detriment to the environment and natural ecosystems of the earth. If the earth were a …
Makeup used to be to cover over and hide the skin – thankfully, those days are gone! We are all about using makeup to allow your natural beauty to shine. Most of the time we want to look like we didn’t try too hard, we haven’t spent hours in front of the mirror and we want our skin to breathe, rather than be overwhelmed by a thick layer of daily makeup. Plus, a more minimal approach to makeup can actually highlight your best features. So if you want to draw attention your eyes, your lips or your cheekbones, make your face a neutral palette with natural makeup, and then spend more time on the area you want to draw attention to. For a natural look, less is definitely more and it’s all about where you put the focus.

Some days you just want to shine. It can be for a special occasion, a wedding, a party, an important work event, or just because you are celebrating life and your place in it! We love those moments when you feel inspired, uplifted and happy. Life is full of challenges, but by marking the good moments every chance we can, the glass can start to look half full instead of half empty. When you want a little bit of shimmer, when you feel that special buzz in the air, when you feel like anything is possible and nothing’s going to stop you – this is the look for you. We call it crystal sparkle, after our favourite quartz crystal that is beautiful, positive and made by nature. Think clear, luminous, the quality of catching the sunlight or moonlight when it’s shining just for you.
Right now I’m all about the simple pleasures in life that actually nourish me. Last weekend, I realised that I barely spent any time at home. I was on the go the whole time and by Sunday night I felt like I needed another weekend just to chill out and catch up with myself. The thing that made all of this more hectic was the current trend in noisy restaurants. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like sometimes the experience of going out to eat in a big city is more stressful than pleasant. You have to wait forty minutes for a table, once you finally sit down it’s so loud you have to strain your voice to talk and can barely hear the conversation at the table. There have been a few moments recently when I’ve thought it’s all got a little bit out of hand! Dining out sometimes feels just like an extension of a busy life – not enough space, long queues, people competing for tables and time – it can …
