New year detox – get juicing!

Even the healthiest of us overdo it over the holiday season, and that’s totally fine. It’s the season to eat drink and be merry after all and there’s nothing wrong with letting your hair down and enjoying yourself! After New Year celebrations are over, start the year afresh and cleanse all the naughtiness out of your body, while giving yourself a bit of a vitamin and mineral boost.

Homemade juices are the best and tastiest way to get in your daily vitamins, so if Santa didn’t get you a juicer for Christmas, then maybe use your Christmas money to go to the sales and get yourself one. A good quality, easy-clean (there are many that are NOT easy!) juicer is one of the best investments you’ll make when it comes to feeding yourself with healthy goodness.

Our all time favourite New Year pick-me-up juice is the fabulous Beetroot, Apple, Carrot and Ginger juice. As you know beetroot is one of our key ingredients and we LOVE it. Pickled, raw, roasted, blended with lemon and horseradish as a dip…beetroot is packed full of antioxidants and vitamins.

For the ultimate detox juice, all you have to do is juice the following all together:

  • 2-3 carrots
  • A couple of green apples
  • Sliver of ginger
  • Tablespoon of lemon juice
  • One whole beetroot cut into quarters

The great thing about juicing is that you don’t have to fiddle around peeling things… just shove the unpeeled goodies straight into the machine and off you go.

Have one of these super detox juices at least once a week. Experiment with your own. You can’t go far wrong with juices really. Unless you put in too much ginger of course. Start with a tiny slice and build up if you need.

Other fantastic detoxing and healthy juice combos are:

  • Apple, carrot and celery: Raises your immune system
  • Papaya and orange: Improves digestion
  • Carrot, celery, parsley and pineapple: Helps prevent cellulite
  • Carrot, lemon and apple: Helps maintain healthy lungs

Everything’s good, so just pick some fruits and veggie combinations you like and get detoxing!

 

Año Nuevo: ¡Desintoxícate Ya!

Todos nosotros nos hemos sobrepasado un poco al comer o al beber durante esta temporada de celebraciones y días festivos es por eso que el Año Nuevo es el mejor momento para comenzar a desintoxicar nuestro cuerpo y darle una inyección de vitaminas y minerales.

Una muy buena manera de obtener las vitaminas que nuestro cuerpo necesita es a través de los jugos naturales hechos en casa, así que si Santa no te trajo esta temporada un buen extractor de jugos, es buen momento para ir por uno que sea de buena calidad, fácil de usar y de limpiar, esta será una excelente inversión que mejorará tu salud.

Nuestro jugo favorito para empezar el año es el de betabel, manzana, zanahoria y jugo de jengibre. El betabel es uno de nuestros ingredientes favoritos porque ya sea crudo, rostizado, mezclado con rábano y limón para usarse como botana, está lleno de antioxidantes y vitaminas.

Instrucciones para preparar el jugo desintoxicante de betabel

Exprime y mezcla el jugo de los siguientes ingredientes:

  • 2 o 3 zanahorias
  • 2 manzanas verdes
  • Un trozo de jengibre
  • Una cucharada de jugo de limón
  • Un betabel entero cortado en trozos

Lo mejor de hacer jugo es que no tienes que pelar los ingredientes, sólo mételos directamente en el extractor y ¡listo!

Tómate al menos un jugo desintoxicante por semana, experimenta por ti mismo, es difícil equivocarte cuando se trata de jugos. Las siguientes combinaciones son geniales:

  • Manzana, zanahoria y apio: Eleva el sistema inmunológico
  • Papaya y naranja: Mejora la digestión
  • Zanahoria, apio, perejil y piña: Previene la celulitis
  • Zanahoria, limón y manzana: Ayuda a mantener los pulmones sanos.

¡Haz tus propias combinaciones y desintoxícate ya!

  1. I know this post is a new year pice and now is a summer season, even so we need to detoxify our body. It has been a long time since I detox my body naturally because of the out of order blender. I am planning to buy a new blender and I appreciate that you have included a juice/smoothie recipe. I just want to share that I made smoothies before, any flavor with spirulina. An alga but beneficial to our health. Great post!
